What idiot called it morning sickness?

It is not in the morning. It is all. blimmin. day. Although, admittedly it does start in the morning. Thankfully at least, it usually starts after I have managed to shove at least some form of sustenance into No. 9 (he has a weird thing about eggs so we do eggs for breakfast).

I'm a little bit baffled though as to how something that seems to want me to eat so much, is so inclined to have me throw it all back up again?

On the bright side, Al did steal me a whole pile of sick bags off an aeroplane in case I happen to be sitting on the motorway on my way too or from work, or I don't make it from my desk to the bathroom at the office should the nausea take a nasty turn (thankfully it's only done that once so far). Such a thoughtful, loving, immensely practical man.

He wasn't quite so thoughtful and loving at about 10pm last night mind when I elbowed him in bed to tell him I was hungry. He just gave me directions to the pantry.

And now for my selfish two cents' worth...

I'm so glad the test was positive and that no.9 is making you eat eggs. Sarah told me that if the test was positive we would all go out for brunch together this saturday. I have a hankering for eggs benne that you just wouldn't believe, and God help you if a) no breakfast or b)no.9 craving yum cha or similarly non-eggy repasts.

mmmmmmmm eggs benne...

Oh yes morning sickess....total crock. Don't know who the heck thought of the name.

And as for Al not getting out of bed...tsk tsk. That is not acceptable treatment of the woman carrying his much prized and highly precious offspring.

Funny story...I still remember firmly putting B in his place one morning when Miss M in her rapidly developing state demanded a Bacon and Egg McMuffin with hash browns. He pointed out McD's was not open for another 10 mins. I pointed out if he got up and left now he'd be there as it opened. Honestly, men have no concept of a hungry pregnant woman's lack of patience!!!!!

Just as an addendum to what Gen said. Yes she did get her Bacon and Egg McMuffin and TWO Hash Browns...

excellent. that kid is starting as he means to go on. get all the rest you can NOW!

morning sickness smorning sickness! stupid people don't know what 24/7 is so they call it morning.

at this stage amelia was insisting on a big mac and macdonalds filter coffee. i don't eat macca's nor do i like their coffee.
neither did andrew when he had to walk thru the streets of venice and into our hotel carrying a macca's bag plus a bottle of lemon fanta. (for after the barf fest, to settle amelia back down.

so glad you are really ill, its such a good sign. only a true wanna be parent would appreciate that comment.

I suggest ginger and lots of it, keep in in the handbag (in a handy tupperware container was my container of choice). I also developed a thing for the natural confectionary company lollies so had them on hand a lot. Also I found one of the best things, lots of rest. If I was well rested it was much better.

Oh wow!!! You are pregnant, YAY!
Congrats! Actually, congrats doesn't mean enough, but I can't think of a more sophisticated word right now :)
And mmm...eggs. But the only nice way to have them is poached and that's a no-no right now (for both of us lol)

Stu - No.9 will be craving French toast whether he wants it or not.

Luckily though, as a rule, he craves whatever anyone else is having so as long as wave eggs bene under my nose, I'll follow you to the ends of the earth! (although I won't be allowed eggs bene when I get there which is a bit tragic, but cest la vie!)

gen and b - hehe!! Al scoffed at the thought of this, but he'll learn. Anyway, as it happens, after egg retrieval when I was prostrate on the couch watching too many TV ads for bad food, I demanded Subway (yuck!) RIGHT NOW at one point, and I had it within 10 mins. I think he's conveniently forgotten!

Ruthie - I know! It's fabulous to be sitting here at 10.15am hoovering a huge mug of soup knowing that in about 15-20 minutes, I'm going to be negotiating with said soup to stay down. Thankfully at the moment I win almost all the negotiations ... but then MS isn't supposed to kick in until 6 weeks, and we're just over 4 so I'm bracing for the 'good stuff'!

SB - luckily, ginger is what I do best ;-)

kat - thank you!! and mmmmm.... poached eggs.

how is baby borat (brother of rupert awaiting title) today? still making you wish you had shares in a free range egg enterprise?
we are off to belgium on sunday, any requests? we can do chocolatey things or baby type things, or pickley type things if your tastebuds are so inclined.
your call.
colour/flavour suggestions would be helpful if'n you do want something.
enjoy the presence of that little munchkin today, every time we think of him there are warm thoughts and huge smiles coming your way.

Oooohhh ... I'd love one of those change mats you have for Amelia! The black one you had at Mum and Dads? Did that come from Belgium?

Borat is a dreadful name. I have visions of my baby coming out in flourescent green freaky-togs. Imagine the poo strainage on a baby!!

No.9 has been pretty good today, although he made his presence felt early so no eggs. Now I'm just ready to curl up and go to sleep under my desk.

P.S. He loves you guys too!! :-)

I'm also pre-ordering an ugly doll from anyone. Anyone??

dag hackin nabbit . . . the change bag came from LONDONTOWN. we are only stopping longtime in amsterdam and belgium sorry. HOWEVA, lisa foster might be coming to stay with us in ghent for a bit, so i will ask her to get one if so.
amelia has two pink ugly dolls, one called ocks and the other is peako. a small one eyed one, and a large three eyed one. she throws them with monotonous regularity and frightening accuracy at her father. we have a singapore stopover, so will look for ugly doll in a puke green or pooh brown, to match the onesie . . .

oh, we have an ugly doll too! Jack isn't that interested in it

we had french toast for you today, in case number nine blocked your access to said food.
what colour bag would you like if we can get one? ice blue, bubblegum pink, black, camo, or stripey?
the evil little troll kept us up all night, declaring 3am an official playtime. spinning the loose dowel in her cot and singing and bouncing.
get all the sleep you can now, seriously. kids with leach/stewart genes are very very very busy little people. the early and violent morning sickness is a SIGN.

Leach genes hmmm, perhaps that is my problem!!! J is always on the go

Simonne said...

She must get the accuracy from your side because it certainly isn't in our genes ...

As for the bag no pink or blue, but I'm good for anything else, although if there is hassle involved I am sure there is an equivalent in NZ if I get off my bum!

I wonder if my body instinctively knows about the 3am playtime thing and that is why it wants to sleep all. the. time. ...? Maybe.

As for the great MS funtime, I'm finding that as long as I keep feeding No. 9 he's happy. Especially if it's eggs.
