Hoooooly hell!

Since I found out I was carrying Cuinn, I've been on the hunt for a particular book. It's one of those things that has deep significance to me, and I really, really want Cuinn to have a copy (plus Al and I are big on fusty old books). Well, it was a series of books, and any of them would do, to keep a particular cherished connection with my past alive for my son, who, of course, won't get it at all, but I will and that's the thing.

I've been hunting for four months and a copy has just popped up on Trademe of all places, although I nearly had a heart-attack at the price. $40.00! For a 28-page book published in 1953! Wouch! The again, considering there were a series of them and this is the first one that I've found to come available, I probably shouldn't whinge. But still. $40.00! The kid is not cheap.

*Sigh* I'm adding it to my watch list. It doesn't have a buy now, so I don't want to alert anyone to said book being desirable by placing a bid myself just yet. As soon as you do that, you're screwed.

Didja have a look on Amazon?

Mum was hunting high and low for a tape of Meg and Mog and found one on Amazon in the UK. The tape was cheap but the postage worked out to be about $30. ha.

Oh yeah, and Amazon.co.uk and general google searches and and and ... I'm slowly talking myself into the $40.00 book. I have, after all, hunted high and low.

Also, you are very bad and you know what you did. I have a veeery long memory and it will come back to you eventually. When I find a sneaky way.

andrew has a few obscure websites where equally obscure books might pop up - i dont know them, but you want i should get him to send you details?
(btw, the book hunting must be genetic, he and amelia have the same love of all things book, altho he is infinitely more respectful to said paper treasures. he NEVER NEVER rips pages out and eats them in pieces.

Yes please!!!

And I tend to only eat pages when I'm really starved, but I prefer loose leaf - it's easier.

I will neither confirm nor deny. Best not to ask GrannIE though. I have a feeling I know what she'll say ...

dear evil one, the best website (andrew says the only one you will need) is bookfinder.com and he is the ace bookfinderer in this little fam.

which book are you looking for?

Booya! Bookfinder is clever and has HEAPS. Or at least, about 3. 2 versions of the Trademe one for approximately double the price of the Trademe one (I have already scuttled over to Trademe and asked the seller to add a buy now option) and a collection book which is $265. Presumably plus postage.

Emma - I will tell you once I own it in case anyone tries to run off and buy it for Cuinn :-) I trust no one where kiddly presents are involved! But I have to buy it myself ... it's the rules of buying something for sentimental reasons.

hehe thats cool. Totally understand the sentimental things as well - there a things that people just arent allowed to buy my boy... or i'll bite them!

Yusssss! Got it! $45.00 later, but still :-) It's a Bill and Ben Flowerpot Men story - not the recent version though, the 1950's version. Sweeeeeeet! :-) Of course it stung me $45.00, but cest la vie! :-)
