How do I ...?

Make a proper linky?

I want my linkies to look spiffy. As in I say, 'Have a look at CNN today' and the CNN is underlined and you click on it and it takes you to CNN, instead of me putting a clunky hyperlink which displays the entire damn path.

There has to be a way, because other (less technologically challenged) people do it just fine.

Go on, tell me how. You know you want to.

Depends on whether you're using a plan text editor to update your blog, or one of them WYSIWYG thingamebobs with all the formatting buttons etc.

If it's a plain text editor, copy and paste the following, substituting the link you want to use for 'http://www.cnn.com' and he name of the link you want to use for 'CNN'.

CNN

You're going to know I didn't understand that at all when you see the next clunky link I post, so I'll just get it out in the open now and say whaaaa....?

I assume it's plain text editor, because it all looks pretty plain to me. If there were fancy formatting buttons I'd be screwed.

BUT I've got you on posting the link to a point.

If I want to put a link to CNN, I type http://www.cnn.com, just like if I want to post a link to Tertia's blog I type http://www.tertia.org, right? BUT where do I put the 'CNN' or 'Tertia' so that that's the word that appears on the screen?

How can I be such a geek without being brainy? It's so unfair.

Thank you for your help!!
